Autumn’d Katahdin

Mt. Katahdin, along with the rest of the beautiful state of Maine, is absolutely stunning during autumn (photo by Craig Robinson). Katahdin heads the 2,175-mile Appalachian Trail, which runs all the way down to Springer Mountain in northern Georgia (history). I’ve hiked Katahdin a couple of times, but not the Appalachian Trail…yet. (I used to joke about doing that for my honeymoon…now, of course, that’s a bit of a joke for completely different reasons!)

Nevertheless, I love Maine. Everywhere I look, nature is evangelizing

I agree that this is a beautiful time of the year. It reminds me of how our Bridegroom woos us in the daily things of life. He painted His love across the sky this morning that I received as a gift for working a night shift last night. My Lord fills me with a particular joy each spring when the temps here in Maine finally reach 50 degrees and the trees are budded out in that new green. I’ve been showered with diamonds as sunlgiht glittering off thousands of newly fallen snowflakes. This theme of our Savior wooing us is described in a book by John Eldridge “The Sacred Romance”. A very good read.
I’ve never climbed Katahdin before, but have enjoyed it from a distance. I’m sure the view from the summit must be amazing. I like the view from Haystack so can only imagine how much more magnificent it is from Katahdin!
