It is not ‘triumphalistic’ to heartily rejoice in the ‘already’ aspects of Christ’s victory. Sure, there’s a ‘not yet’, but so what? Shouldn’t we march boisterously toward the not yet – even if we still have to limp until we get there? Shouldn’t our sins and the devil be bludgeoned with loud rejoicing over what has been accomplished in the already, and what will soon be accomplished in the not yet?
Our prisoner’s rags may remain for a while longer, but the door to the jail cell has sprung wide open – shouldn’t we taunt our ex-captor with loud praise-reminders of the fast-approaching calvary – even if he does manage to work in a few more whacks before he must meet him face to face?
And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord. Psalm 27:6, ESV [show] [6]And now my head shall be lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the LORD.![]()
