Stress in creedal confession, without drinking of these waters [of experiential communion with God], runs dry in barren orthodoxy, just as truly as spiritual emotion, without clearness in confessional standards, makes one sink in the bog of sickly mysticism.
From the preface of Abraham Kuyper’s To Be Near Unto God.

So, if you are sincere in your prayer life, you’re good to go.
If you are distracted, you’re a goner.
If I’m following Kuyper correctly that is. Plenty of reading out there for people interested in this form of devotion.

Oh, am I excited for you! Please keep me posted. I haven’t been able to do any reading worth mentioning since I started this new position. 10 hours yesterday, 11 today. Great job, but I miss the reading time. But, I’ll trade it (temporarily) for being debt-free that much sooner (Lord willing, Lord willing).
