The Church Miltant

As of this past Sunday, I’m an official member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. It’s nice to finally be “visible”!

The Heidelberg Catechism

Question 1. What is thy only comfort in life and death?

Answer: That I with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong unto my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ; who, with his precious blood, has fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my heavenly Father, not a hair can fall from my head; yea, that all things must be subservient to my salvation, and therefore, by his Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me sincerely willing and ready, henceforth, to live unto him.

Amen to that!

    Congratulations on being “visible!”

I have the distinct privilege of going to a Baptist Church that uses works like the Heidelberg Catechism in our responsive readings. We said that exact portion last Sunday. Ahhh. I love my church.

this is like my favorite part of the catechism… well, that i’ve read. i’d be silly to pretend to have read the whole thing.

I concur. (…and I haven’t read the whole thing either!)

You know, it’s better to read a few things well and in their entirety than to merely lap at them in passing, my friend. You have to dig to get the gold.

    Excellent advice, Luke. Thanks.
